Oh how I love newborns! It was such a joy to meet this new little soul! I always find it best to photograph them within the first 10 days of life, that way they are still so sleepy and peaceful.

This is the birth announcement that we created.

Now that you have viewed all of your wonderful images, what are you going to do with them? How are you going to turn those photographs into pieces of art to treasure as heirlooms?

I not only offer beautiful archival prints…I offer many other custom pieces that can add life and love to your home and preserve your memories forever.

Here are some ideas from albums to cards-check them out!

Albums

A beautiful handcrafted album is the perfect way to tell the story or your wedding day or memorialize this time in your family’s life! Each album is hand designed to perfectly display your moments and memories. Choose from leather, silk or animal-friendly cover options. Let us design a clean, crisp storyboard album that shows off the Simple, Real, You.

Canvas Wrapped Prints

Your portrait will be printed on museum-quality canvas with the highest grade archival inks that will not fade or discolor. Each image is hand stretched onto a custom-built, wooden frame. No additional framing is needed.

Presentation Boxes

Guaranteed to make an impression, these boxes will catch your eye when placed on a coffee table! Each 5×7 box is handmade and wrapped in a silk cover that is printed with your favorite image.

Storyboards

Storyboard prints are made of 2-16 photos of your choice and are arranged in a clean, simple design with customized color and text.

Cards

Beautiful 5×7 flat or folded cards. Perfect for holidays, birth announcements or just to say hello! Press printed on a variety of paper options.

If there is another goody you are looking for and don’t see it here- just ask! I may be able to provide it

The Session

I shoot exclusively on location. A session typically lasts 1 to 2 hours; however, if more time is needed, that’s not a problem. I will come to the location of your choice: a park, an urban setting or your home. Younger children tend to do better in their natural environments, but if they are old enough, parks and urban locations can be great backdrops. My hope is to make the session as relaxed and natural as possible. We will do a mixture of posed and candid photographs. Mostly, I let you interact, be yourselves and wait for great moments to unfold.

Rachel- Working with you was such a pleasure. I was nervous about how my three year-old twins would handle a photo shoot, but you had the magic touch and found a way to make the afternoon enjoyable for everyone. The best part was the result – our photos are unique, creative, and capture the essence of our family. You will no doubt be our family photographer for life! -Erin

Dear Rachel,
How can we thank you for the gorgeous photos of our family? You captured the true essense of who we are and how we interact. We chose our favorite prints and hung them in the house and I stop everytime I look at one of them. I feel as if the moments in the photos never passed, and as a parent, that is a gift. Our children grow up so quickly and being able to have those unique and special qualities they exhibit captured in pictures is priceless. We think you are so talented, and such a joy to work with! We look forward to many more shoots as a family with you. -Meghan and Vince

Dear Rachel, A photography session with you is like hanging out with a great friend. You were so easy to be around and are so talented that I forgot we were having our picture taken! I remember telling you I was much more interested in emotion than composition. I wanted to convey how much we love each other and love being a family. The pictures you delivered were beyond my expectations. I actually cried. Ever since our shoot I have been trying to figure out when I can use you again! Thanks again! -Emily

Rachel- THANK YOU!! We LOVE the photos. We both cried already….tears of joy – of course. You’re the best! -Julie & Jim

My dear Rachel! You are the best! I can’t believe how great they came out! We love them! Thank you so much! You made all of us feel so comfortable. The kids had a great time and now we have these beautiful memories. It was a pleasure to work with you! Thank you again. -Tania

Rachel, These pictures are amazing, can’t thank you enough. The hardest part is going to be picking our favorites. Thanks a million. -Mary

Wow! Nicely done Rachel…we love your work! You did a wonderful job & the slide show made me cry immediately. -Jeramy

Okay…..so I bawled my eyes out for 5 minutes as I thought of how blessed I am with my wonderful family, and how blessed I am to have a CRAZY talented friend like you! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for capturing my beautiful girls in a way I’ll never forget. -Tress

Love, Love, Love

I LOVE weddings! A wedding day explodes with so much love, emotion and celebration.

I have the greatest privilege as a photographer; to witness and record your real moments as they unfold throughout the day.

Many people define a wedding day by the significant moments. The “I dos,” the first kiss, the first dance, the cake cutting… Yet, there is so much more than that. It is made up of smaller moments that happen in an instant, but remain in your heart for a lifetime. A laugh. A stolen glance. An embrace.

I am there to capture it all; from the smallest detail to the grandest emotion.

I consider it a great honor and privilege to work with you on your wedding day. I promise your wedding day will be photographed with sensitivity, fun and creativity so that you will have images to cherish for a lifetime.

Rachel is amazing! I can’t say enough about how great an experience it was. We are having a really hard time picking pictures from our wedding because they are all so beautiful!! It rained on our outside wedding. And Rachel somehow was able to get all the shots I wanted and get the feel for the day. She really captured exactly what I was after. She really works with what you want by capturing your personality and all the ones closest to you on print. Even with the rain I never once was worried about the photos. She will definitely be someone that you can trust with your life changing moments. She was amazing!

Hi, Rachel,

I want to thank you for the wonderful way in which you photographed and preserved Karl and my wedding. We have been amazed at how many different pictures you took, and of all the great candid shots of our guests. It was so hard to pick anything for our photo album! But, the album is GORGEOUS! We love the cover, but we especially love all the memories it holds. We really appreciate how many photographs you were able to include, and the way you laid out our “story”. Many thanks, Rachel, for all your hard work. We sincerely appreciate you!

Fondly, Karl and Paige

As a photographer I am always looking for a way to give back through my work. One organization that I think is absolutely amazing is Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.

While I am currently in my child bearing years and after having a bit of a scare during my daughter’s birth I am just too close to it emotionally to be able to volunteer my services as a photographer . But because I believe so strongly in this organization I donate a portion of my proceeds to NILMDTS. Once I am done having children, I look forward to being part of this incredible organization as a photographer.

I am very proud to be a member of these fine organizations. Click on their logos to learn more!

A plethora of 4GB & 8GB CF cards providing plenty of memory.

What do I use in the studio?

My digital darkroom consists of a HP Workstation with a gorgeous 30″ HP monitor, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe InDesign CS4 for all of my editing and album design.

STYLE…

What’s my style? It’s Simple. Real. You.

My goal is to be welcomed into your moments, your world and your lives, in order to create photographs that represent the real you. I strive to capture the emotions, interactions and energy shared between individuals, so that when you look at your images you feel as if they are not only pictures, but are impressions of the feelings and moments you share together.

PHILOSOPHY…

Life is fleeting. It is made up of moments, and memories that are filled with emotion.

Many define life through significant moments. An “I do,” a first dance, a cry when entering the world, a first step.

Yet, life is so much more than that. It is made up of smaller moments that happen in an instant, but remain in your heart for a lifetime. A laugh. A stolen glance. An embrace.

It is amazing what photography can do; it can take a simple moment and turn it into a lasting memory.

That is where I come in. I get to have the unbelievable privilege of being welcomed into your moments, so that you have a record of them to cherish and reflect on for a lifetime.

My favorite title is one that my dear friend gave me…she calls me their “family photographer.”

It is my goal to become your “family photographer” as well, capturing all of your moments from the “I dos,” to expectant bellies, on to the arrival of new little fingers and toes, then special family moments for years to come.

I look forward to getting to know you and the loved ones in your life, and creating a relationship in which you can also look to me as “Your Family Photographer.”

MY LIFE…

I LOVE life.

I feel INSANELY blessed with and VERY grateful for the life I lead.

I am the wife to an amazing husband and the mother to an incredible little girl, and I couldn’t possibly love either of them more.

I am surrounded by the best immediate and extended family whose love and support I never take for granted. They have made me who I am and inspire me to grow and learn everyday.

I am a dedicated friend. My friends are filled with passion, a love for life and a zest that I feed off of and thrive on. They all inspire me to be a better person.

I am a photographer. It is a career I adore, and find it hard to call “work”. Even the challenging aspects of my job are still fun and creative!

I am an adventurer. I run marathons, road and mountain bike, downhill and telemark ski and practice yoga. I am lucky to live in a state where all of those activities are right out my front door.

I am a traveler. I love exploring new countries and cultures. I have been fortunate enough to travel around the world, making stops in the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Venezuela, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Switzerland, Scotland, Wales, France, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, and Japan, and lived in Italy for two summers, and England for a month. My appetite for travel cannot be quenched. I yearn for more!

I am passionate, silly, fun, motivated, and very loyal. I can be serious, thoughtful and reflective.

I am thankful. VERY VERY VERY thankful for all of the blessings in my life.

The relationships I have in my life ARE my life. To each of you, I have an unending amount of gratitude.

That’s me in a nutshell. I can’t wait to meet you.

MY LIFE AS A PHOTOGRAPHER…

“Some people work all day, others play. Then there are the occasional few who fail to see a difference.” -Anonymous

I feel as if I get to play every day I work.

Photography has been my passion and creative outlet since high school. It was then that I was fortunate enough to take my first official photography class and gain exposure to the darkroom. Ever since, I have fed my insatiable passion with classes throughout college and beyond. I graduated from the University of Colorado with majors in Photography and Biology with the idea of becoming a wildlife photographer. I quickly realized that I desire more human interaction than that field allows. After two careers outside of photography (Vail ski patrol/Backroads bike guide and pharmaceutical sales rep), I have found myself back to where my heart never left, living my dream of being a professional photographer.

Over the years, I have studied under many amazing photographers including, Andy Katz, Thomas Mangelsen, James Christianson and Laura Esmond. They continue to inspire and challenge me to bring my art to a new level.

As photography has changed throughout the years, I have pursued my love of the art and its technical advances by taking courses through the Art Institute of Colorado, National Geographic on Location, The Nikon School, and Boulder Digital Arts. I have also attended many professional photography workshops such as the FStop Workshop with James Christianson and Jenna Walker, National Geographic on Location with Joel Sartore, PhotoBiz Bootcamp with Liana Lehman, WPPI Plus with Mike Colon, Alt F with John Michael Cooper, Learnfest with Audrey Woulard, Tamara Lackey, Lena Hyde & Laura Novak and Jose Villa Workshops with Jose Villa.

Photography is my consuming life-long passion, one that is luckily both work and play.
